ISC Cross-strait Internet Exchange Committee Established

On September 19, 2011, the Cross-strait Internet Exchange Committee of Internet Society of China (hereafter referred to as the “Committee”) was established in Beijing. 59 organization members from mainland Internet industry attended the establishment ceremony.
The Cross-strait Internet Exchange Committee is a non-profit organization, iniated and founded mainly by mainland companies and civil society that concerned the cross-strait Internet exchange and cooperation. The mission of the Committee is to get close the connections within cross-strait Internet industry, so as to strengthen cross-strait Internet exchange and cooperation, to promote cross-strait social, economic and cultural development and to enhance the well-being services for cross-strait compatriots.
The establishment ceremony of the Committee was presided over by Mr. MA Ning, the Secretary-general of Internet Society of China (ISC). The presented representatives deliberated and approved the Committee’s Chapter, Election procedure and recent working plan. Mr. YE Kedong, the Deputy Director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and Madam HU Qiheng, the President of ISC were engaged as the Honorable Directors of the Committee. At the meeting, Mr. LONG Mingbiao, the Director Assistant of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council was elected as the Director of the Committee.
Director LONG Mingbiao said that the Committee will play an important role in promoting cross-strait exchange and cooperation, which is established under the new situation that the cross-strait relationship met sound and peaceful development and cross-strait exchange and cooperation went deeper. The establishment of the Committee is conducive to establish a platform for cross-strait Internet exchange and develop normal and institutionalized cooperation mechanism, to integrate mainland forces and resources for in-depth, mutual-benefit and win-win cooperation; to meet the needs and requirements of the cross-strait Internet industry and drive healthy and orderly Internet exchange of cross-strait exchange and provide better services to the cross-strait compatriots. Also, he expected that the Committee could earnestly perform its duties and usher in the new page of cross-strait cooperation and exchange.
Madam HU Qiheng gave a speech, pointing out that the establishment of the Committee is of great significance in improving cross-strait Internet in-depth exchange, promoting cross-strait relationship and enhancing cross-strait economic and cultural exchange and development, and it will be a new impulse for the peaceful development of the cross-strait relationship. She expected that the Committee could seize the opportunity to drive cross-strait Internet exchange and cooperation, promote the resources integration and to benefit cross-strait compatriots. Also, the Committee was expected to conduct self-construction and standardized development, so as to play a much more important role in driving the cross-strait co-prosperity and economy development.
The Committee will convene 2011 Cross-strait Internet Development Forum in November. And the Committee will continuously propel the exchange and cooperation between cross-strait organizations, broaden exchange channels and drive cross-strait in-depth communication and healthy development.
