The first session of “Cross-strait Smart Tourism Summit Forum” Convened

On December 10, 2013，the first session of the “Cross-strait Smart Tourism Summit Forum” was convened in Taipei. Taking “Tourism Development in the E-commerce Era” as the theme, this summit forum attracted over 200 guests. During the forum, the participants conducted in-depth analysis on cross-strait tourism information exchanges and cooperation, sought for further development, and explored new ways for cooperation.
Mr. GAO Xinmin, the Vice President of Internet Society of China (ISC), said that the smart tourism featured that tourism became more and more intelligent to provide better services for the tourists, because the smart tourism could provide convenient way to get tourism news and information and gained better experience. Mr. GAO also pointed out that the integration between tourism agencies and hotels, administrations and better services should be leveraged on the up-to-date technology, such as mobile Internet, cloud computing and big data etc. In this way, a comprehensive tourism information system will be built to meet our goal of developing smart tourism.
Mr. ZHANG Pingzhao, the President of the General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China, said that travel and tourism industry is an important industry, whose structure has changed along with the change of people’s consumption habits. President ZHANG also said that e-commerce and smart tourism is the route need to pass.
At the current stage, the cross-strait tourism industry witnessed informatization construction. Taking “Beauty China—2014 Smart Tourism Year” as the theme, the mainland aimed to promote tourism resources and products exploration and integration in the aspects of smart services, smart management and smart marketing, to develop tourism to modern service industry based on informatization. In May, Taiwan area had allowed the tourists application for free i-Taiwan wifi services. “Smart Tourism” has come true in Taiwan.
This summit forum provided a high-end, authoritative, professional and effective exchange and cooperation platform, which contributes to deepen and broaden the exchange and cooperation. Meanwhile, the hosts expected this forum could effectively drive the development of smart tourism, accelerate the integration of digital technology and business entities as well as apply new operation model and form new industrial pattern, so as to meet the prosperity of cross-strait tourism.
This summit forum was jointly hosted by Internet Society of China, Taiwan.cn, Taiwan Information Management Institution， and Taiwan Internet and E-Commerce Association (TIEA).
