On July 10, during the 2024 (23 rd) China Internet Conference hosted by the Internet Society of China(ISC), the Smart Education Forum was held in Beijing. The forum was jointly organized by the Smart Education Working Committee of the ISC and the Intelligent Education Industry Group of the 5G Application Industry Array, with the theme of "Intelligent Technology Driving Educational Change". 

Ms. Chen Jiachun, Vice President of the ISC, Mr. Lu Yang, Director of Network Technology Division, Department of Information and Communication Development, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Mr. Ren Changshan, Director of Education Informatization and Network Security Department, Department of Science, Technology and Information Technology, Ministry of Education attended the forum and delivered remarks. The forum was hosted by Mr. Lei Mingyu, Secretary General of the Smart Education Working Committee of the ISC. 

At the forum, Ms. Chen Jiachun said that China's Internet has achieved leapfrog development in the past 30 years, laying a solid foundation for the digital transformation of education. 

Mr. Lu Yang pointed out that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is actively promoting the construction of 5G network and application empowerment, and jointly with the Ministry of Education to carry out the "5G + smart education" application pilot, and achieved positive results. He put forward three suggestions: build a solid network base, strengthen technological innovation, and adhere to synergistic development.

Mr. Ren Changshan said that smart technology is being fully integrated into the field of education, becoming an endogenous driving force that triggers deep-seated changes in education. The Ministry of Education has carried out a series of positive explorations, such as the construction of smart education demonstration zones and a national smart education platform. He stressed that accelerating the digital transformation of education requires adherence to a people-centred approach, integration and innovation, and systematic promotion. 

In the report session of the forum, Mr. Zang Lei, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Institute of Technology and Standards of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, made a comprehensive analysis of the pilot work on the application of "5G+ smart education" and looked forward to the future development trend. 

The forum also launched four key events, including "artificial intelligence + education" typical application case collection, education information technology application innovation product evaluation, smart education product and service provider list (third batch) collection and the telecom and Internet service users personal information protection technology requires Internet education service standard. 

In the keynote speech session, a number of guests shared their technical solutions and application practices around smart education. This forum provides an important communication and exhibition platform for promoting the development of smart education. And in the future, ISC will continue to strengthen cooperation with all parties in the industry, actively participate in and promote the practical exploration of the digital transformation of education, and promote the development of high-quality education.
